I’m Rickie, a Certified Childbirth Educator and Postpartum Doula. I have been supporting expecting families for over 14 years. I love helping people feel more confident and prepared for labor, birth and the postpartum period.

This is such an important time in your life and I feel that education and support can make all the difference for expecting families. It can empower you to make informed decisions all along your journey that feel right for you. Support can help you rest and recover – easing the transition to parenthood and ultimately giving you more time to enjoy your baby.

Childbirth Education Experience

I have been a Lamaze-Certified Childbirth Educator since 2003. Lamaze is one of the most respected Childbirth Organizations and is known for promoting Safe and Healthy Birth Practices worldwide. I have been teaching prenatal classes and supporting expecting couples for over 14 years. I also have a passion for teaching and earned a Bachelors Degree in Health Promotion in 2002.

My teaching experience includes:

  • Prepared Childbirth
  • Natural Prepared Childbirth
  • Planned Cesareans
  • Breastfeeding
  • Newborn Care
  • Infant CPR and Choking Infant Rescue
  • Safe Babysitting Classes
  • Safe Infant Sleep

Although I have supported many women during labor and birth over the years, I have given birth to FOUR amazing children myself. This has only enhanced my experience as a Childbirth Educator and Postpartum Doula.

Postpartum Doula Background

I feel strongly about supporting mothers, newborns and families after baby comes. I know personally how challenging the postpartum period can be as I struggled with significant Postpartum Anxiety after the birth of my 1st and 3rd babies. After overcoming and making it through some difficult postpartum recoveries, I became passionate about supporting other women through their postpartum journeys.

I have seen first-hand the effect that emotional and physical support can have on not just mom, but the entire family. Postpartum Depression can even be prevented or lessened through compassionate, loving support. This is such a critical time after baby is born; I love helping families rest and recover so they can enjoy baby!

My Postpartum Doula Experience Includes:

  • CAPPA Trained Postpartum Doula
    • CAPPA is an international, professional organization that trains Labor, Birth and Postpartum Professionals
  • Newborn Care
    • I taught Newborn Care classes for over 10 years in a hospital setting
